movement, this celebrated painter, sculptor, writer, underwater
photographer, muralist, and educator has been hailed a ''Marine
Michelangelo" by USA Today and honored for his devotion lo
marine life issues, art, and conservation.
Wyland's
monumental ocean murals now grace the sides of nearly ninety
buildings across four continents as he moves ever closer toward
his thirty-year goal of one hundred. In 1992, he earned a
prominent spot in the Guinness Book of World Records after
completing "Planet Ocean", the largest mural in
history. In 1998, the United Nations paid tribute to Wyland's
environmental efforts by naming him the official artist for the
International Year of the Ocean, and issued his original oil
painting, Embraced by the Sea, as a commemorative stamp. We are
